This month took a slight detour from the series of videos that I’ve been doing.

This month I’m going to talk about goals.

I’m not really a New Year’s resolution type person. I feel like every day is a brand-new day and every day is the first day of the rest of my life. If I need to make a change or set a goal, then every day is a good day to do that.

In business, especially in real estate, typically goals are set based on financial desires. You say this is how much money I’d like to make this year, and this is how many people I need to help to get there. This is a good way to set goals in business, I have done it in many a business planning class and know how to do it! However, I’ve never set goals like that; it’s never been my goal to make a certain amount of money. Tomorrow is never promised, and I feel like setting financial goals is me saying I’m doing this for tomorrow. I’m not talking about existentialism; I am not an existentialist. I’m talking about living each day to the fullest serving where you are and focusing on what is in front of you.

The goals that I set are typically achievable every single day.  I like to make it my goal to achieve my goals every single day.  My goal has always been to serve the people in front of me. This year I want my goals to be more defined as far as my service goes.

My goal is to serve the Lord by serving my family, my church, my clients, the agents on my team, and my community.

The important thing about goals is to make a clear path to achieve those goals, to make a clear path, you must make an actionable plan to achieve your goal. You want to identify the steps you need to take to reach your goal.  The other important thing is to share your goals, as this offers a certain amount of accountability. If you tell people you’re on a diet you’re not going to eat three slices of pizza in front of them.

To serve the Lord I make sure I am consistently praying that the Lord directs my steps. I read my bible and spend scheduled time in prayer. It is my desire to serve the Lord by serving the people He puts in my life.

To serve my family, starting today, I am going to be very intentional about my time with my family. My husband and I have a fantastic relationship, and we do a lot of things together, but sometimes we’re just along for the ride with one another.  I am going to choose to do things that I know make him feel seen and valued, I’m going to make intentional efforts to do things just for him and give him my full attention when we are together. We are going to do things for fun together, instead of just working together!

I have the most amazing blessing having my parents live at my house with me. They have their own space, we’re not all on top of each other, their house is attached to our house.  I find that I take this for granted. I don’t intentionally spend time with my parents, I just see them when I see them, sometimes not that often. I’m going to start scheduling time with my parents to go swimming, because this is what mom enjoys. I am going to schedule walking the dogs with my dad, because this is something he does every day. I’m going to put it on my calendar, and it is going to be an appointment that I keep.

I am blessed to be in a great church that is growing and growing in a good way, focusing on the Bible and on serving the community.  I have not served through my current church even though I have been there for 10 years. In previous churches, I have participated in the children’s ministry and been the treasurer.  I think that I never volunteered to serve at my current church because I was just not available enough for the acts I have done in the past.  I am going to go to the pastors and ask them what I could do to serve there.  I will present my skills and my availability and allow them to tell me where my service would do the most for them.

For the agents on my team, I’m going to sit down with each one of them, meet them where they are and see what they want to set as goals and then I’m going to do everything in my power to help them achieve those goals.

As for my clients, those of you who come into my life to allow me to help you buy or sell a home, I always try to do what you need not what the last person needed and not what the next person may need I try to meet you where you are and offer the support and service you need. I’m going to continue to do that and increase my efforts to keep in touch.

To serve my community, I am making it my goal to get more involved with the Hungry Kids Project and the Chino Valley Food Neighbors. I’m also looking forward to my relationship with Chino Valley High School and finding more ways to serve there to contribute to the next generation. I will continue to make sure that my website “callchinovalleyhome.com” has all the local events on the calendar and will continue to advocate for the people who live and work in this town.  I love this community and want to see it grow in a positive way! I’d love for you guys in the community to give me suggestions as to how I can serve my community better.

These are my goals, not for the year, but for today going forward!  What are your goals?  It is great if they are business or financial goals, just set them and, share them, make actionable plans to achieve them and go for it!  If you need help setting your goals, call me!  I would love to serve you by helping you set and achieve your goals!
