One of the things that I’ve always loved about Chino Valley are all the things that you can do with your family that will not not cost you any money.

A drive down Perkinsville Road will reveal a plethora of fun things to do! This 47-mile-long road that will take you all the way from Chino Valley to historic Jerome is named after M.A. Perkins who had a cattle ranch here in 1900.  You will find a variety of outdoor activities and amazing views, there are few fences and great open spaces.  You start out in dirt where there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, playing with your dogs, or off-roading on an ATV.  You can pan for gold where the road intersects the verde river, camp, or come out for an afternoon of shooting! It is also a great place to bring your horses and ride for hours.

The next place is a true gem – the Peavine Trail. The Peavine Trail was an old railroad line, and it has been preserved as a trail that goes from Prescott all the way to Chino Valley. It is 18.5 miles long and connects with other trail systems. It’s great for hiking, biking, dog walking or horseback riding.  This is an easy trail for a walk that offers amazing views and changing vegetation. You go from the open rolling hills of Chino Valley through the beautiful Granite Dells and into the cottonwood thick Watson Lake.   There is plenty of parking for a horse trailer.

There is truly something for everyone in Chino Valley, stick with me and we will try to explore it all!  Chino Valley, Your Home, Our Community, Endless Possibilities…
