The horses are the result of ranch stock and trail horses that have either escaped or have been released into the wild. Over the last 100 years these horses have continued to develop into amazing resilient small bands and herds. As the herds have grown, they have reached numbers that threaten the food and water supply for themselves and other animals that share the land.
